Chairman & British Triathlon Coach Level 1 – Mike Edwards

Mike has been competing in Triathlon since 2010 and in 2018 obtained his level 1 coaching certificate.  He took part in the inaugural Ironman Wales 2011 event and ever since then he’s been heard saying “I’m never entering another”, despite having entered several more. 2019 will see Mike entering his last! Mike is a great believer in sport’s ability to improve an individuals physical and mental health. He is keen to encourage all abilities to enter the sport of triathlon.

Vice Chairman & Level 1 British Triathlon Coach – Caroline Rees

Caroline joined Pencoed Tri Club in 2017 and a few years later became Vice Chair. Having obtained her level 1 coaching certificate in 2019 she is now looking forwards to post-covid lockdown coaching and is currently training for her first middle distance triathlon.

Caroline joined the club to get fitter, be more active and meet like minded people.

Treasurer – Chris Adams

Chris’ heart has been captivated by racing since he entered his first egg and spoon race at the age of 3. He believes it is better to have raced and lost, than not to have raced at all. “I genuinely thought you gave up sport when you left school, but a broken leg in 2003 forced me onto a rowing machine, and from there I refound my passion for competitive sport” His first Triathlon was in 2008, and in 2011 he took part in the ITU Triathlon at Hyde Park on the course that would be used for the 2012 London Olympics. Chris loves the camaraderie that sport provides. To turn up at an event with friends, sharing in the nerves , the suffering, the disappointment and the glory.

Secretary and Level 2 British Triathlon Coach – Dan Morgan

Dan has been the club secretary for a few years now. He can often be spotted at the Porthcawl parkrun in very colourful fancy dress outfits. He has taken part in various triathlon distanced and recently completed the gruelling Gower Ultra 50 mile run race.

Level 2 British Triathlon Coach – Andrea Garrington

Andrea enjoys taking part in triathlon events from Sprint to Ironman distance. She’s also been known to participate in Swim/Run and Marathon distance Swims events. With an enthusiastic coaching style, she particularly enjoys working with novices, providing the support belief and confidence that “Anything is Possible”.

Level 2 British Triathlon Coach – Lauren Davies

Lauren was our vice-chair in previous years and recently became a level 2 British triathlon qualified coach. Lauren has a range of experience at competing at different triathlon events, from sprint to middle and full distance triathlons. Lauren is keen to encourage people of all ability to try the sport of triathlon.

Level 1 Coach – Tom Chapman

Tom has been with the club for five years. Having completed two IM Wales events; nearly getting eaten by a bear at IM Canada, he now seems obsessed with swimming long distances, in cold temperatures, in nothing but speedos. Having completed a couple of 25km swims, Tom recently completed swimming the English channel.
