Tom Nesham put together a faultless display of racing at the British Elite Duathlon championships. In extremely testing conditions Tom came in 4 seconds off a lead group of 5 runners in just over 8 minutes for the 2.5k first run. He quickly pulled up to the lead and by the end of lap one the leading eight athletes were whittled down to 3 packs. Tom and another athlete broke away marginally on the second lap of three. This gap then stretched out a few further seconds. And by the end of the third lap was around 15 seconds to the chasing packs. At T2 he entered just behind his nearest rival, and quickly set about chasing his rival down. At the turn point for the 1450m run he’d established a small lead, but came back like a raging George North (ex pontypridd Schools rugby captain) in 4.04 to win by 10 seconds. A fantastic effort amid a high quality field.
